Questions 172-175 refer to the following article.
Kettlebrook Tea Brews Up Growth YORK, August 14. Kettlebrook Tea has come a long way from the narrow shop that Samira Aziz’s parents opened on Millbank Lane in 1998. Ms. Aziz took over the business in 2015, and since then it has grown well beyond its original walls. [1] The shop is known for its own blends, which are mixed by hand in a back room. Ms. Aziz’s parents still help choose them, and none of them can be found on supermarket shelves. Customers who discover them tend to stay loyal. [2] That loyalty created an unusual problem. Several regular customers who had moved away from York kept phoning the shop to place orders, and Ms. Aziz found herself packing parcels between serving people at the counter. “I realized we needed a simpler way to reach them,” she said. In 2021 she launched a monthly subscription box that delivers three blends to customers’ homes. [3] The success of the subscription allowed the business to take its next step. This September, Kettlebrook will open a tasting room in the space next door, which until last year housed a bookstore. Visitors will be able to sample teas before buying them, and weekly classes will teach the best ways to brew each blend. The original shop will remain open as usual. [4] “My parents started with one counter and a kettle,” Ms. Aziz said. “I’m proud that we can share what they built with more people.”

Hallmere Data Services Is Your Contact List Still Accurate? Over the years, most professionals collect hundreds of business contacts, many of them saved on networking sites they rarely open anymore. People change jobs, companies merge, and titles change. Before long, a large part of your list points to people who are no longer where you think they are. ContactRefresh brings that list up to date. Simply export your contacts as a spreadsheet and upload it through our secure Web site, www.hallmeredata.com. For each entry, we find the person’s current employer and job title and record them next to the original information. Entries we cannot confirm are clearly marked, so you can decide what to do with them. How it works: Our matching software searches only publicly listed business information, such as company directories and published staff pages. Every match is then reviewed by a member of our staff before it is added to your file. We never send e-mails, messages, or connection requests to anyone on your list, so your contacts will not know that a check took place. Pricing Up to 500 contacts: $90 501 to 2,000 contacts: $250 Over 2,000 contacts: custom price on request Your updated spreadsheet is returned within five business days of upload. Questions? Call our client team at 555-0147. * * * To: Client Team <clients@hallmeredata.com> From: Ingrid Vasquez <ivasquez@portvaleexpo.com> Date: February 3 Subject: ContactRefresh inquiry Dear Hallmere team, I have run the Portvale Packaging Expo for nine years, and next spring’s event will be our tenth. For this anniversary, I would like to invite back the exhibitors and speakers who have taken part since the first year. The trouble is that many of their details came from a networking site I stopped using long ago, and I am sure a lot of them have moved to new companies. My original export had over 2,000 entries. However, after my assistant removed the duplicates, about 1,400 contacts remain. I plan to upload the file on Monday. Since our invitations must be printed by the end of the month, could you confirm that this timing will work? Best regards, Ingrid Vasquez Director, Portvale Packaging Expo

To: Accounting Team From: Grace Okafor Date: April 28 Subject: Our move to the second floor Hi everyone, As you know, the fourth floor of the Danforth Building is being renovated this spring. While the work is going on, our team will sit on the second floor, and we will come back upstairs once the renovation is finished. The facilities team has already worked out where everyone will sit, so you will find your new desk number on the attached seating plan. Our working hours will stay the same. Before the move, please put your personal items into the boxes that will be delivered to your desks this week. Please also empty your desk drawers, because the desks themselves are staying behind. Write your name and your new desk number on each box. You do not need to do anything with your computer: IT staff will disconnect it on moving day and set it up again at your new desk. I have included the building’s moving schedule below. Our team was added to the plan after it was printed, so you won’t find us on it. We will move on the same day as the Legal Department. A word about the second floor: our temporary desks are in what used to be the training room. It is a smaller area than we are used to, so things will be a bit crowded. Please bring only what you really need for daily work and take anything else home. Thanks for your help, Grace Okafor Accounting Team Lead * * * Danforth Building: Renovation Moving Schedule Date; Activity May 6; Human Resources moves to floor 2 May 7; Marketing moves to floor 3 May 8; Legal Department moves to floor 3 May 10; Fourth floor closes to all staff June 21; New furniture delivered to floor 4 June 24; Computers reconnected on floor 4 Questions about this schedule should be sent to the facilities office at extension 2210.

A colleague of ours, Martin Pell, is retiring after 25 years with Ferrow Insurance, and about 22 of us would like to give him a proper send-off. We have never dined at Olmsted Table before, but a friend spoke very highly of your private rooms. During the evening, we would like to show a short video that Martin’s team has put together. Would that be possible? Also, two of our guests cannot eat gluten. Could your set menus be adapted for them? Thank you, Daniel Kim * * * A Perfect Evening for Martin Reviewed by Akiko Ohta Our group of 22 celebrated a colleague’s retirement at Olmsted Table last month, and I would recommend it to anyone planning a work dinner. A few days before the event, we had to push our dinner back by an hour, and the staff easily accommodated our late change of start time. The video we prepared for Martin played without a single problem, and there was plenty of space for everyone. As for the food, everyone agreed that the seafood dishes were the highlight of our set menu, especially the grilled sea bass. Our two gluten-free guests were served their own versions of each course, and they enjoyed them just as much. My only small complaint is that the room became a little warm late in the evening.

MEMO To: Hall 3 Operators and Supervisors From: Rafael Duarte, Plant Manager Date: May 12 Subject: New packaging line in Hall 3 I am pleased to announce that a new packaging line from Kestrel Machinery will be installed in Hall 3 later this month. It will replace Line 2, which has been in service for more than fifteen years. The new line can wrap and label up to twice as many trays per hour. Production plans will continue as normal during the installation, as orders scheduled for Line 2 will be moved to Line 1 for a few days. The old Line 2 machine will be shipped to our plant in Westbrook, where it will handle smaller orders. Before June 3, every operator who works in Hall 3 must complete a hands-on training session on the new line. The sessions will be led by a technician from Kestrel Machinery, who will stay on site for the first week of operation. Supervisors should choose one session for their team from the attached schedule and let me know by May 20. * * * To: Rafael Duarte From: Lena Hoffmann Date: May 14 Subject: Training for the night shift Hi Rafael, Thanks for the memo. My team works from 10:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M., so the morning and afternoon sessions would mean asking people to come in on their time off. I’d like to keep the training within our normal hours, so please put us down for the one session that fits. One more thing: several operators on my team are more comfortable with paper than with screens. Could we get printed copies of the quick-start guide to keep next to the line? A few copies would be enough.
