The Goethe A1 writing test (Schreiben) takes 20 minutes and has 2 writing tasks. Writing counts toward the A1 total, and you pass the whole exam with 60 of 100 points.

### How writing is scored at A1

The whole exam counts together, and you need 60 percent of all points to pass. Writing is one part of that total.

Goethe A1 is not modular, so you cannot take Schreiben on its own. You pass the Goethe A1 exam with 60 of 100 points in total, and you must take every part.

### How to practise Goethe A1 writing

- Plan your time by task: part 1 10 minutes, part 2 10 minutes.
- The tasks do not give equal points: part 1 gives 5 points, part 2 gives 10 points.
- Cover every content point the task asks for.
- Read your result for each task and write the weakest task type again.
